Cathy Robinson (Director), Emmeline Pearson (Musical Director), Jade Afflick-Goodall (Choreographer), Sharon Brown (Project Manager)

This years jukebox summer musical ‘Threads’ is to be led by an all female production team for the first time in Williams Creative’s history!

Williams Creatives are set to go on stage this July at the Sue Townsend theatre with their original jukebox musical, ‘Threads’. The show is a delightful evening of fun, music, drama and laugh out loud company in this original production set to the music of the 80’s and 90’s.

Marcus, a fashion designer from London, lives with his childhood best friend Marie and together with a whole host of characters, they create a family that sees them through all of life’s ups and downs over a 16-year period. When one of them is given devastating news the threads that bind this family together are tested, but no-one can take away the family you choose. Featuring songs such as The Best, You to Me are Everything, Like a Prayer and many more.

Williams Creatives, who were described as an “industry powerhouse” after their hugely successful show, On the Surface, We Smile in November 2018 at Melton Theatre are excited to be bringing more original theatre to Leicester. The company is managed by Joshua Taylor-Williams and Sharon Brown alongside a committee of talented individuals and are making a name for themselves as the new kids on the block with big visions for the future.

The show stars Star of Musical Con Winner 2022 and West End Star Joshua Taylor-Williams as Marcus and Ellie Thompson as Marie

Since the companies conception Joshua has led most productions in the company alongside co-owner Sharon Brown but this year offered the opportunity to lead to three active members. Joshua says, “The whole point of Williams Creatives is to give as many opportunities as possible to our members and I am always thrilled to provide more places for women to lead in any industry but particularly in the performing arts industry. Having written ‘Threads’ I am over the moon to see these talented ladies bring their vision for the show to life, trust me, this is not one you want to miss”

Cathy Robinson, Director of the show says, “It’s an absolute honour to be asked to direct Threads for my directorial debut. Threads is so much more than a jukebox musical – it has heart and the layers of the story evolve with each rehearsal that passes. As an original piece, Threads is exciting, emotional, and energetic. I just can’t wait for you all to see it!”

The show opens at the Sue Townsend theatre in Leicester on Thursday 6th July until Saturday 8th July 2023. Doors open for the two evening shows at 7.15pm. There is a VIP Gala Performance on the 6th of July and more details can be found on our website.
